Safari Sunset Painting
During our topic of Around The World we ‘visited’ the Serengeti and learned all about the animals that live there.
We created a sunset sky using some watered down paint and sponges. We started at the bottom with yellow and sponged a strip across the page. We added a little bit of red to the yellow and sponged a second strip and continued with this all the way to the top. Some children wanted to have a sun on the horizon so they placed a semi circle of paper on the bottom of their page. When the paint was dry and we removed the semi-circle it looked like a sun. We were very careful to make sure that each strip blended together to avoid having visible strips. Once it was dry we painted a small black trip across the bottom and stencilled in the silhouette of some Safari animals.
