3-D Butterflies

While following the life cycle of our butterflies we painted our own pictures. We started with some butterfly templates of which the children all had a choice. We spoke about symmetry and the colours on the butterfly’s wings.

We painted our templates and when they were dry we carefully cut them out. They were then mounted on black sugar paper to help the colours stand out. We used some white strips of card to prop up the wings and make the butterflies look 3-D. They made a very pretty display.
